Parks and Recreation play an important role in the quality of life in Rowlett and also provides for a healthier environment, improves the well being of our citizens and neighbors, and reduces the potential for crime in our city. Our vision statement reflects how we feel about our citizens. With forty staff members and approximately 100 seasonal employees, our department is responsible for providing our citizens with opportunities for fun and relaxation. Our department is composed of the Recreation and Parks Divisions. We extend an invitation to you to take advantage of the fun and relaxation awaiting you through the Parks & Recreation Department of the City of Rowlett. Our parks offer opportunities for low-cost entertainment, special events, recreation programs, sports, family outings, walking trails, fishing ponds, playgrounds, and pavilions and more. Our Community Centre offers a state-of-the-art fitness center, multi-use courts, two gymnasiums, meeting and banquet rooms that are appropriate for weddings and corporate meetings, and a multitude of fitness programs and classes for all ages, from infants to seniors. Note, summer camp registration began on March 8. If you are an existing program participant, application renewals must be submitted by April 1 of each year.This will ensure that your application is reviewed and processed before registration. If you are a new program applicant, please apply at least four weeks before registration opens.Depending on the need, the cost of recreation programs could be 50% or 100% covered, with the exception of private swim lessons, birthday parties and sport ball programs. The program provides recreation opportunities to children, youth and adults in financial need. To support you and your family, we offer the Recreation Funding Access Program. We offer recreation programs at municipal recreation centres that are owned and operated by the municipality.
